Jonathan Small – Lead Podiatrist Jonathan Small Jonathan qualified from Cardiff School of Chiropody in 1990 having won the Prize for Practical Chiropody. He started working in Banbury for Oxfordshire Health Authority where he quickly specialised in Diabetic Foot Care and Podiatric Wound Care (foot ulcers). This led him to runners-up prize in a national competition run by the Journal of Wound Care. Promotion soon followed to Senior 1 Chiropodist / Podiatrist (Diabetes Care) for South Warwickshire, where he became well–known in his field. Further training and experience was gained as a member of the Gait and Movement Analysis Team at Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital. Jonathan then wanted a new challenge, and hence started a private practice to make the most of his skills as he felt his knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of foot problems was not utilised fully by the limited resources of the NHS. He can offer private patients a much broader range of treatments than are available elsewhere as well as the most up-to-date information and advice for their particular condition. He often sees patients intensively to cure their foot problem rather than them having to continue with regular treatment. He also provides treatment for abnormal foot function which may alleviate aches and pains elsewhere in the body. Whilst most patients will travel far and wide to make the most of Jonathan’s skills, home visits are available. His clinic, Health First, also offers consultations with other experienced podiatrists. Judy DeArmitt – Associate Podiatrist Judy DeArmitt Judy qualified from the Sussex School of Chiropody in 1992 with a BSc in Podiatry. She initially worked as a Podiatrist for Scholl in Cheltenham before moving on to Portsmouth and S.E. Hampshire Health Authority. Judy then spent a few years working in America in retail management. After returning to England and taking a break to have her children Judy has undertaken extensive refresher training to gain her Health Professions Council registration. She now works part time at Health First in Southam, providing Podiatry treatments for a wide range of conditions. Kate Sands – Associate Podiatrist Kate Sands Kate qualified from Northampton School of Podiatry in 1994 and began working life at Stockport NHS Trust. Two years later she moved to South Warwickshire NHS Trust and specialised in Adult Biomechanics as the Senior 1 for the area taking on Paediatrics additionally. Further training in this area was acquired as a member of the Gait and Movement Analysis team at Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital. Kate then took on the role of Professional Lead for South Warwickshire Podiatry Service. During this period Kate went into Private Practice working as an Associate where she found that she could provide optimal care to her patients without the limited resources that are indicative of today’s NHS. Claire Green & Liz Dean - Receptionists The day-to-day running of the practice falls to Liz and Claire. Liz joined the team at Health First in 2005 and has qualifications and experience in Business Administration. Claire joined in 2008 with a background in small business administration.
