Bunions, hammer toes, clawed toes etc. may cause pain and discomfort in the joints, in which case surgery is often indicated. However, they may just cause problems because they take up room in footwear. Chiropodists / Podiatrists can provide bespoke silicone devices or similar to protect vulnerable areas from rubbing. However there are also many retail protectors such as gel covers and tubular foam.
